I’d come back and simul this thing, great exposure and fun movement, most the the pitches were quite short but rambling enough that it’s mostly worth pitching it out, we just linked 4-5. I’m comfortable in fist cracks so I didn’t feel like the 4 was needed.

Oct 13, 2025 · Lead / Onsight. It was a lot of hiking but pretty incredible to get to the top of half dome, and it love not having to get permits. The bottom few pitches are probably worth pitching out, but overall I’d rather just solo the top 4 or 5 pitches if I were to go back.

Fuck I hung on this one like 20 times, absolute war of attrition getting up it, I couldn’t get the knee in until about 15 feet up so it was a struggle trying to figure out how to advance through that section - I ended up doing like dynamic hand fist stacks, Michael had his shoulder in the whole time and did a vertical chicken wing so there’s options, but I find this to be incredibly brutal.

Aug 14, 2025 · Solo. LRS for the crux route up high, everything else was soloed. I ended up making about 29 miles with more than 25lbs on the back for the day overall, it was kind of brutal. You really need to have an entry permit for brainard lake it turns out, otherwise you have to park three miles down the road.

We did a long pitch to the base of the crux hand crack roof, one medium pitch through those two roofs, then Zach led the 5.8 over some interesting traversy stuff out right, then fired up what I believe was the 5.9 finger crack. We topped out after 3 hours on the route and beat the rain. The raps were a bit interesting I got lost on the second one and had to up climb a bit - it was further right than I thought, the book made it look more to the left.

It was good we made it through before the Saturday heat wave, it was getting toasty out there as we were getting off the mountain
