Access Issue: Raptor Nesting Climbing Avoidance Areas Details

Description

Jam up the splitter on the face along with the splitter in the corner. Where the splitter on the face gets wide it is perfect hands in the corner. A great warm-up.

Location

Just left of where the trail comes up is an obvious left-facing corner with a splitter on the face and a splitter in the corner. Next route right of Sparks of the Tempest.

Protection

A few each red and gold Camalots or larger cams if you want to place gear in the crack on the left.

Felt stiff for an IC 10- to me. Also the feature that the guy in the photo is laybacking is not attached to the wall; It seems unlikely to fall out but II could move it with my foot.

Might be a better plan to bring some larger cams (several camalot 3's and 4's) and protect the splitter (as suggested), or at least until the last 20 ft of the route. Apr 30, 2017
