Description

Worthwhile extension to Waimea (the climb). From the Waimea anchors, extend them A LOT and traverse the sloped ledge right until you gain a huge undercling and then continue straight up and use the mini-sloping ledge-y hand holds to clip and do the great move up to the gaston and mantle carefully out right to clip the chains and lower to the ground.

Location

Above and to the right of Waimea.

Protection

Extend the right anchor bolt of Waimea then work right on the slab to clip the first of three bolts to anchors.

There isn't a lot of reason not to do this if you can climb the grade. It is a nice extension with a cool move, plus it just adds more climbing to an already great route. Jun 6, 2014

I'd heard that this wasn't worth the time if you've climbed Waimea but there was a distinct 5.11 crux for me after the undercling. Totally worth doing and very much its own climb. Aug 12, 2014
