Sep 9, 2023 · Lead / Flash. Been dreaming of doing this route for years. Finally felt I was good enough to pull my own weight up it. The first part of the traverse pitch felt harder than the traverse itself. The boulders pitch definitely has all the moves. I can see how people get psyched out because it’s right off the below to start with a nice airy feel. Pitch 6 felt more money than pitch 5 but only by a little bit. Highly recommend the walk off compared to the rappel. Some guys started rappelling the same time we started walking off and we were already back across the river when they were only a little more than half way down. 11/10 times I’d choose walk off over rappel. I’m an ok enough .10 sport climber but I don’t see the 10- some on here give it. Now if some very hollow sounding holds on the traverse pitch came off I could see the route the pitch bumping up a grade. Would definitely say Beckey gave it a fair and accurate grade. Agree with others that taking into account the bottom two pitches not a 4 star route but after that I’d give it a SOLID 4 stars.
