Heart of the Artichokes
Aug 22, 2026 · Solo. Spotted the formation while backpacking from Piute to Toejam Lake with Dad and Liv. Fired up MP and found this route (without the photos for a little added adventure). Left camp at Toejam in the evening for a solo mission. Solid rock over a remote granite canyon with no one around! Instead of bailing right to easier ground, cut left from the ledge beneath the summit headwall for a bonus pitch of 5th class double cracks

Jul 26, 2026 · Lead / Redpoint. LRS. System worked well enough. Beal opera feeds like butter and avant backfeed clothespins were perfect. Only hangup happened on p1 when I accidentally clipped the lead line into a cam through my cache loop at the crux and only realized once I had climbed above. Luckily it was near the top of the pitch. P2 OW was over quick once I committed. Single 4 was enough. Climbed the finger crack var. when cleaning. This was the only pitch I hauled. Stayed right on p3 this time for maximum exposure. Put the rope away for the final dike hike to the top. 3 hrs

Jul 10, 2026 · Lead / Onsight. With Gazz. Proper adventure on a massive feature. Cruiser climbing punctuated by a couple cruxy chokes. Descended to the saddle where we refilled water via snowmelt. Continued up the north face of Ritter and down the southeast glacier. Pretty worked the next day so we took it easy and checked out Cecile lake (sweet spot to camp next time!!) and then cragged on the orange trapezoidal cliff behind our camp at the east end of Ediza. Climbed a long pitch of thin, right-angling twin cracks splitting the southeast face (5.8 and pretty awesome) and a two pitch route on the east arete (5.9 and not so awesome)

Jun 7, 2026 · TR. Got about 20 feet and 5 crumbly beaks off the deck on LRS before deciding it wasn’t worth decking for. Also didn’t bring enough beaks. Bailed to the ground and then did it on TR. The entire pitch took beaks of all sizes, one shitty 0.4 and a couple rivet hangers. A few hook moves too

Direct North Buttress (DNB)
May 23, 2026 · 19 pitches. Lead. What an adventure with Jesse who was a great partner! Fix and follow + hauling a small pack was the way to go. Found my flow on my first block (p1-5) which was my favorite climbing on route. P5 is one of the best in Yosemite. Jesse styled his block and got us to the start of the chimneys before 12:30. Watching him sack up and put down the savage p7 was awesome. From here, the route got punishing. I traversed too far on p12 but Jesse got us back on track. Half way through the chimneys we resorted to pulling on cams to hopefully get across the Kat Walk with some light. This did not happen, and we had to pull out our headlamps on the last real pitch at Thirsty Spire, which lived up to the name. Getting over to the East Butt raps in the dark was challenging to say the very least. Did Not Bivy but probably should have. Longest day out yet!
