ALL SEASONAL CLIMBING CLOSURES FOR CLIMBING AND SLACKLINING WILL BE LIFTED ON FRIDAY, JULY 7TH THIS WEEK.
THANKS, EVERYONE FOR YOUR HELP IN OBSERVING RESTRICTIONS DURING THE NESTING SEASON!
There are many seasonal raptor closures with varying dates and specific boundaries. These generally effect The Monument, Kiss of the Lepers, Picnic Lunch Wall and/or Smith Rock group, and possibly elsewhere. These usually run from February to the beginning of August, but each closure is usually shorter than this, and is dependent on the birds' behavior. Check this site for details: smithrock.com/seasonal-clos…
Description
A fun, underappreciated climb. The route starts from atop the giant boulder but can be climbed as one large pitch from the ground.
Access the top of the boulder by either the left crack or bolted face. Crank (or aid) through what might be a v5 boulder problem then continue up the savory, exposed, and significantly easier face. If you have a 70m rope, continue past the first (original) anchor on 5.10+ terrain until you can easily traverse into the crack, finishing at a small ledge with an anchor featuring fixed carabiners. 70m rope will allow you to lower to the ground.
