Jun 21, 2026 · Lead / Fell/Hung. Climbs like an off width. When the butterfly jams gave way to finger crack, it’s still heel toeing.
Struggle grabbing gear on my right side, didn’t think I’d be climbing that side in with so few options. Didn’t think it would climb like that from the ground otherwise I might have slung my cam’s across my chest for more freedom.
Gear placements generally challenging. Reminds me of learning to wingfoil with the leashes tangling everywhere except here it’s the rope getting caught between my feet, across my cams. Speaks to inexperience in general with this sort of climbing.
I can’t imagine my lead in 2019 going much worse. Engineering project as I gave up on technique and finesse.

Jun 20, 2026 · Lead / Onsight. Lead 1, 3, 5. First 3 pitches are fantastic. Fourth has a lot of options that all seem to go but the options make it wandery and route-findy.
Climbs like a lot of dihedrals of this nature - find stems or smears for feet and don’t obligate-crack-climb the corner cracks or you’d find yourself overhanging.
The roofs were all really fun, four big ones. The crux roof on p2 was a powerful stem to gain the lip crack. Happy to have followed even with our day pack dangling between my legs. This one _was_ burly, I thought the others were thought provoking and technical as well but presented much better stances to plan a sequence.

Jun 20, 2026 · Lead / Onsight. Used to approach Serrated Edge. 10c move was mellow.
Saw someone below seemingly start to TRS a fixed line that started at p2, but also lugging a pink a rope around like they were going to lead solo. I couldn’t for the life of me figure out what they were doing. Maybe practicing something - seemed like an odd spot (for practice) and uninspiring climb (for the experience).
Was worried when they started cutting steps in the widest part of the frozen solid snowfield we had chosen to skirt near the base - that would have been a really bad unintentional glissade.

Jun 18, 2026 · TR. Flared jams gave me trouble, climbed with thin hands technique.
Similar to the upper crux of rehab, but easier. Finger crack _is_ back there.
Also - velvet gloves is similar.

Jun 18, 2026 · Lead / Fell/Hung. Burly, awkward, flared but very good and challenging.
Lead burn was a bit of a mess - sloping rails face downhill when you need a lieback move, flared cracks make secure jamming difficult.
Bring a stick clip for the first bolt.

Jun 13, 2026 · Lead / Onsight. With Alyssa. Fun way to approach the wart and the groovy lake up there - amazing top out zone.
You’d have to get to a bolt and decide to jump off head first instead of clipping in order to hurt yourself on this climb. Pretty modern bolting job by toulumne standards

Jun 14, 2025 · Lead / Fell/Hung. Anchor bolt heartbreaker, needed to match hands in a small crack, Gaston with the right so I can maintain tension and match below with the left - there are small incuts to work with… then reach an undercling / finger lock above and build feet and reach the finishing jugs.
Great stuff.
