Description
Eagle Lake Cliff sports some of the best crack climbing in the Tahoe Basin in a very aesthetic setting. It is well worth the half hour approach up scenic Eagle Creek Canyon. Space Walk is the gem of the area and is a contender for Tahoe's best trad route.
The crag gets shade until early afternoon (roughly 2 PM, although some routes stay shaded longer). Bump across the creek to Eagle's Nest for afternoon shade, or up the creek to Eagle Creek Cliff (aka Whiskey Cliff) for some quality routes that don't see much traffic.
Getting There
To get there, hike the Eagle Falls Trail west and south from its trailhead, about one mile. Once you see the lake ahead, go right at the next trail junction and follow Eagle Lake Trail to the water's edge. Go left from here, walking along the east side of it to the south shore, and the cliff is obvious there.
