Description [Edit]

Unfortunately pie is no longer served here, but the name remains attached to this popular South Lake Tahoe area. It offers good climbing and bouldering. Take care to be a good neighbor and not to boulder too close to the houses.

Getting There [Edit]

To reach The Pie Shop from South Lake Tahoe, follow Hwy 50, west from the junction of 50 and 89 (known as the "Y"). A little past the airport, turn right on Sawmill Road, and continue for 1/4 mile. Park on the left side of the road. The trail starts in the boulders, right of two houses.

Carville's guide calls this a "leisurely" approach. While not long or overly difficult, I think leisurely is a bit misleading. Oct 10, 2007

I don't think that "leisurely" is misleading at all. It's a simple 10 minute approach. You should have done it before the trail was cut! Jul 9, 2009
