Description Suggest change

This is a free variation of Misbegotten.

It should be noted the last published description correctly describing Misbegotten was in the 70’s. I don’t recall the name of the guide. But Misbegotten is 100’ and goes to the top of the rock. From the ledge at 50’ where Masters of Defeet ends you can see a RURP, bolt, and knifeblade going through a roof. That is Misbegotten.

start up Masters of Defeet (5.10d). Follow it for 5 bolts until it briefly merges with Misbegotten. stay left on Misbegotten when Masters of Defeet ramps right to the ledge. Follow the thin crack to the roof (5.11a). climb roof (5.12c). Climb less than vertical dihedral to a 2 bolt anchor at 90’.

this is the longest route at Mission Gorge. And the most difficult trad route.

Protection Suggest change

6 bolts. 1 fixed pin. Brass nuts, offsets and rp’s (skinnier cable). Smallest offset cams/aliens. Single cammalots 1-3.
