UPDATED THREAD: mountainproject.com/forum/t…

So I recently was thinking that having a place to find answers to common questions would be sweet. So here you go. I think it would be great if people would add information about these topics to these existing threads so that we can have one consolidated area to share this stuff Hope you all like it

Red Rock weather links below.  The rain gauge is at the visitor's center area, so it's not measuring the actual weather in the canyons.  But it's the only gauge we have, and at least gives you some idea if you should even bother.  Takes at least a couple days after 0.10+" rain for all the rock to be dry.  Exposed areas that see a lot of sun perhaps less time.

See, this is the problem with the Clark County School District: teachers waste their work days assembling this sort of drivel while neglecting their students during their contract hours. I don't see those science proficiency exam scores going up Mr. Snipes. Sad. Just sad.

Well done Darren.
Was tracking all that down a Snipe hunt?

Here is the information for late exit passes at Red Rock

- LATE EXIT PASSES -

The Scenic Drive hours are: 6 a.m. - 5 p.m. November 1 through February 28/29

It is easy to be late returning to your car, and the tickets are EXPENSIVE. The BLM has a "Late Exit" system in place to allow climbers extra time before they must exit the scenic loop road.

Passes will only be issued for multi-pitch routes located at:

Angel Food Wall
Oak Creek Canyon
Icebox Canyon
Juniper Canyon
Pine Creek Canyon

Full details are on the BLM recording at 702-515-5050. Here's what to do:

Call the LATE EXIT RECORDING at 702-515-5050.

You can call up to seven days prior to your climb. If you can get a cell phone signal (but don't count on this), you can call as late as 4:00 p.m. on the day of your climb. Be prepared to recite the following information to the answering machine:

1. Your name and address
2. Vehicle license number and description
3. Type of pass (late exit or overnight)
4. Intended date of climb
5. Route name
6. Parking area
7. Your phone number

ALL information must be left or NO PERMIT WILL BE ISSUED!

Awesome compilation Darren - Kudos

Now if we could make it a 'sticky' or something of the sort.

How can we edit/update it so it/ this doesn't just become another thread of hodge podge links and suggestions?

Keep that organization.

Trundlebum - it is a sticky.
So far the only thing I can think of that will keep this thing organized is have people PM me with things to include in the original list and I can edit it. I would imagine a PM to the admins could do the same thing.
I'm open to other ideas about how to keep this thing organized and not become a cluster-mess. My first thought is to have any irrelevant posts deleted. Not really sure, again I'm open to suggestions.

Adding a better link for weather, the RR Canyon weather station, which allows you to check on historical precip data. McCarran is on the other side of town, which tends to be warmer with less precip.

You can also access the forecast in Weather Underground by changing the Blue Diamond station to the RAWS one inside the park. Adjust accordingly for higher elevation routes.

Hmm
When I click on the weather link I provided above (title: amazing weather data including rain guage) it goes to the RAWS site.
Are you seeing something different?

Also, I just added a link to Handren's page for the new 2nd edition of the RR guidebook
