Red Rocks Temps in Early August?

I have to be in Vegas in early August and am wondering how unpleasantly hot it may be climbing in RR during this time. I've climbed here a bunch--mostly April, May, and October---and thought it would be nice to get a route or two in while "enjoying" my wife's family reunion. I'll be there mid week and looking for a partner too.

I'd be looking for something short and north facing, like Prince of Darkness or something similar on Black Velvet, but I am open to suggestions (I'd prefer trad, but haven't yet done PoD). I'd be looking to get started at first light and off before the temps got too high

I should also mention it doesn't get much above 80 in the summer where I live (northern New Mexico), so 90 and 100 in the sun feels rather oppressive to me. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Have you considered Mt Charleston? It is cooler. I have never climbed RR in August but I have in June. We did ok hiding among the black velvet canyon's walls once we hiked in at dawn.

Black Velvet Wall actually is quite sunny in the summer mornings. I try not to start climbing BV until the early afternoon when it is super hot.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
