Tunnel 1 closure
For more details visit: jeffco.us/open-space/alerts…
The two areas Jefferson County Open Space intends to close in Clear Creek Canyon, shown on the attached maps, encompass the active eagle nests. If the Clear Creek eagles continue to nest in the active nests, these areas will remain closed from February 1 through July 31. If the eagles choose different nesting sites, the closures will be adjusted accordingly to protect those eagles during their breeding season.
Currently, rock climbing areas that fall inside of the seasonal raptor closures include:
Blonde Formation
Bumbling Stock
Evil Area
Ghost Crag
Highlander
Skinny Legs
Stumbling Block
Tetanus Garden
Fault Caves
Description
This is a clever, dry, and borderline humorous way to get to/from base of Brennivin, back to the other side, via the high tyrol. Surprisingly, this takes less time than approaching Brennivin by wading the creek.
The route in itself is kind of fun and interesting. It is plenty easy to do with pack and tennies.
Here's how it works...
Straightforward, but if it still sounds confusing:
1. climb tree.
2. tryol across.
3. yard on the handline left to bolted belay scoop of Rhett Wench (RW).
4. climb P1 of RW but keep going left and traversing to far anchors (fixed biner here). 'Green' path in picture. 8 bolts.
5. partner lowers you to the ground of the Brennivin area.
6. bring your partner over.
To go back, climb Shenanigans, 5 bolts, (pink path in picture) to RW anchors (thread rope through chains) and get lowered back to the scoop. Bring your partner over.
