Access Issue: Seasonal Raptor Closures & Rockfall Mitigation Project Details

Description

Climb past 4 bolts on good rock to a committing pull onto the big black flake. Delicate moves gain a lieback on the right edge. Follow bolts on the slab to anchors above.

Location

From the start of "Solid Gold," traverse left into a large amphitheater. This route start immediately to the right of a large gully at the back of the amphitheater.

Protection

About 8 bolts, a #0.5 Camalot makes the pull onto the flake a little less spicy, and another #0.5 Camalot makes the run-out off the top of the flake more reasonable.

This route is harder than Little Sister, and the rock is less solid. Needs to clean up -- three crimper holds broke under my fingers, and there's a cubic foot sized, loose block begging to be pulled on at the second overlap (above the big black flake). But fun. Oct 22, 2014
IMO, most leaders will want to place at least one piece at the roof and at least one more to protect the 20' runout after the roof. Also, some/most people would probably be happy to have tape on their right hand at the crux. Jun 4, 2017
