Access Issue: Rim Rock Trail Closure Details

Description

This was led ground up and bolted on lead off hooks. The crux is moving past the last bolt.

Location

This is between Play With Your Balls and Sea Robin. Start from the pointed boulder. Rap off.

Protection

6 bolts. There are anchors at the top. Classic! I added a bolt down low where there used to be a gear placement. It's now safer!

The top of this route appears to have at least 3 chipped holds. I have to say the route is very fun, but it always makes me sad to see people are still chipping. Jan 20, 2013

The top holds may looked chipped, but they are not. Mike Cichon is one the last people who'd chip holds, and I have it on VERY good information that they are as natural as it gets (in a quarry)! Jan 1, 2014
Wow. Full value. Top felt desperate today. Pumped to come back! Jan 11, 2014

The jug/good edge about 2/3 the way up ripped off today. I hadn't been on the route before it went, so I can't say if it's harder or not but just a heads up. Maybe my partner will chime in as he had done it in both states. It cleaned up nicely though, and the route still goes. Feb 13, 2014

The route feels a bit more pumpy through the crux now that the jug-edge is gone, and the last 2 clips are a bit different as well. Definitely feels like 12d now. Still just as good as ever though! Feb 13, 2014

I thought this route was fantastic with fun, flowy moves, moderate rests, and a super fun crux at the last bolt. Get 'er done!!! Mar 12, 2014

I got on this route with a friend today, I had all sorts of fun even including falling on the last move. Route is clean and crimpy with good movement. Apr 29, 2014

So far this is the best one at the East Quarry that I've been on. I like that lack of rest on it and the continuity that results.

Thanks for putting this up, Mike. Jan 18, 2017

Great route. You can find a no hands rest right with your head about even with the horizantol crack after the 3rd bolt before you pull onto the face. It is wide stem. May 5, 2017
I was very surprised at the quality of the climbing! Super fun, thoughtful, and varied climbing. Dec 11, 2017

Agree with Joe, definitely not chipped. It is a quarry, everything is blasted making it not natural. That’s why the climbing is better than regular Old Table. I don’t believe there is a single chipped hold at the East Quarry. If there is, I’d be surprised. Jan 8, 2018
