Featured Trad, Sport, Bouldering, and other popular climbing routes and climbing areas Eldora, Colorado.
Eldora is very small town west of Nederland and Boulder. The town sits in the valley just below the Ski Resort. Many walls of smaller size loom. There is rock everywhere around this area, but much of it to my knowledge is uncharted. Climbing around here certainly has an alpine characteristic to it, but with the sun shinning and a warm breeze, it's the perfect change from the Boulder Canyon Crowds. Go explore. From Nederland head south on CO HWY 119 for a mile or two and turn north at the sign for Eldora Ski Resort. This is county road 130, go past Nederland High School, and soon you'll be in Eldora.
It’s a rock in the middle of a swamp. There’s a small trail from Fourth of July Road called Plants and Animals. That cuts east off the road about a half mile up from the Hessie Trailhead. The trail will dead end into a jeep trail. Cross straight across the jeep trail, and bushwhack a few hundred feet. You will crest a small hill that looks over the swamp. The rock will be visible across the swamp.
This is the cliff near the junction of the road to Hessie Trailhead and Fourth of July road. It's home to one great mixed route, the Hessie Chimney.
