Sep 12, 2026 · Solo. Lead Rope Solo. Did in 2 pitches, one giant ~65m pitch to a stance (just missed the bolted p3 anchors). Grigri felt a bit less grabby on the 9.3mm rope this time, still felt like it would work but a bit of a delayed catch. Perhaps having the chest strap tighter caused this? Had the rope in the backpack with slipknots, which mostly worked well

Sep 4, 2026 · Solo. Zero snow to approach chimney. Solo'd first 2P, route finding is not too bad even in the dark if you look up pictures. Don't get sucked into the right choss at the beginning. Most of it the chimney is really not that loose imo if you stay on route, we knocked zero rocks down. Pitched out NC P3 left exit - which has ~20ft vertical section that is loose jugs and sketchier. Then very easy to broadway

● Casual Route
Sep 4, 2026 · Lead / Onsight. Took heavy inspiration from "Ellen the Felon's" MP post on the casual route, highly recommend. Left at 12:30 to guarantee first party on NC. Contouring right off the trail near columbine falls saves ~30min off the approach, much more direct, recommend getting gpx for "North Chimney Direct". Zero snow to approach chimney. Solo'd first 2P of NC, route finding is not too bad even in the dark if you look up pictures. Most of it is really not THAT loose imo if you stay on route, we knocked zero rocks down. Pitched out NC P3 left exit - which has ~20ft vertical section that is loose jugs and sketchier. Then very easy. Intended to link into P1 of casual route but rope drag was horrible immediately, maybe more extension would have helped. NOAA conditions were low of 41 - Toe warmers in shoes and under crack gloves were amazing. Still cold but manageable. P1 exact start or route doesn't seem to matter much, as long as you end up underneath the 5.9 crack (a bit hard to see in the dark). Link 2-3. Lead P4 with backpack on and it was fine and much less hassle than hauling imo. Linked P5/6 and made it to great ledge ~15 feet below YWBL. Was able to then link through crux pitch from there, works well if you run out of gear before the full 60m pitch. P7 - definitely no backpack for chimney, we hauled which worked but was slow, might consider just hanging off the loop next time. P8 vertical section from "Almost TL" to TL is not obvious, we went right of the higher piton (not clipping it as its too far left). Cables can be done in one 35m repel, skip the first bolt, walk down to second, 35m will get you ~4ft above the ledge, and no snow in sep so can scramble down 3rd from there. Lead NC, P1, P4, P5/6, P7

Aug 30, 2026 · 5 pitches. Lead / Onsight. Lead 2/3, 5/6/7/8. P3 I was just left of the bolts, and it was much easier than 10d. Stay just right of the bolts for the true line. Meant to link 5/6/7 but missed the belay (those pitches are so short) and accidentally linked 8 as well. Horrible rope drag but a 70m baaaarely made it. Don't recommend. Awesome route!
