Psychedelic Tree
Aug 5, 2023 · A fairly enjoyable and at-grade climb with a bit of loose rock. We did this route in three pitches. The loose rock benefits from tight protection, so ended the first pitch at a piton in a right-facing corner above a small footledge to recover my gear. A hollow block early on and a solidly wedged chockstone at the anchor were my only concerns on this pitch. The second pitch follows the hand crack up to a grassy ledge. This pitch was enjoyable and had the best rock of the climb. The third pitch went from the grassy ledge up and to the right of the now-dead tree, over a series of overhung ledges, and finished in a right-facing corner. I climbed this with a double rack from .4 to 3. I got use out of the larger pieces towards the top, and also wish I had brought more medium nuts.
