Description

Start up Spring Route, then rather than head right for the arete, head straight up seam. Variation connects with original route at the end of the seam and just below the roof.

Protection

Same gear as for the original spring route but add a few small/tiny nuts for protection in the seam.

Nice, direct line. Note there is ground fall potential on the lower part of the original spring route line on 5.6-5.7ish terrain. Also, the direct line can easily be top roped from the original line anchors. Vickie and I have done the original line many, many times over the years and finally got on the direct (What took us so long?). It is a worthy variation and goes at a surprisingly mellow grade. It would be cool to know who got the FA and in what year. Sep 17, 2017
