Description Suggest change

We did 'Long Walk for Man,...' thought about doing 'Are We There Yet' but while rappelling from the good live tree anchor, noticed some nice looking cracks leading up a short headwall directly to the rap anchor, after exiting a big alcove.  Looked fun.

Starts as for Are We There Yet and breaks slightly left about 20 feet up at a small roof.  Follow orange rock up into the big alcove.  Exit left onto the headwall and follow your nose to the rap anchor.

The name Square Dance with Death comes from the first ascent moving out of the alcove, I bumped a block that slid out and I couldn't really put it back very well.  My partner followed gingerly and I tried (again) to put the block back while on rappel, but it slid out more.  I had my ropes saddle bagged so there was really nothing below and no one around.  I was able to redirect the 50-ish pound boulder to a safe crash landing.

Will probably go back and clean up the pitch in the near future. I gave it two stars on potential, only.  UPDATE MAY 26 2025: Cleaned it up a bit on rappel yesterday after doing the route next door.

Location Suggest change

Same as Are We There Yet.

Protection Suggest change

Standard rack with a #4 Camalot optional in the big roof crack in the Alcove. A couple of small cams for the headwall. Bring a long runner or two or double up standard length runners.
