Description Suggest change

Hippo's Dance is a rare, easy route on the Ophir Wall. This route begins in a chossy alcove with easy climbing. Watch out for loose blocks here. Climb up, passing two trees on the right, before following a long, left-leaning crack/seam system all the way across the slab. There is a tricky section about halfway across the traverse where the easiest climbing involves downclimbing lower on to the slab before continuing upwards towards a 3 bolt anchor in an alcove. One long pitch gets you to this anchor.

From this anchor, you can make 2 rappels with a single 60m rope to get to the ground. Rap 1 takes you to a newly bolted anchor, and rap 2 takes you to the ground. Alternatively, you could climb another pitch up and left to the top of the wall.

This route gets the rating of 5.6 in Telluride Rocks, but most modern climbers would put this solidly in the 5.7 range.

Location Suggest change

The route begins in a gully feature with two trees straight above the start. This is located about 150 feet to the right (east) of the Party Wall.
