Description

Named for the popular side dish at the Faralito restaurant in the town of El Rito, Refritos is an alternate first pitch for Chili Verde, and it joins that route at Juniper Ledge midway up the cliff. It follows an obvious black streak, with sparse pro but fun climbing and fewer bushes than nearby climbs on this cliff. Don't fall.
Follow the 2nd pitch of Chile Verde (a left-facing corner) to top out.

FA note: Gary and Lynn Clark gave names to all the routes at El Rito Trad, however, the cliff was visited before the Clarks frequented this area. No one really knows which lines were climbed, though.

Location

This climb takes on the black streak, which is almost directly in front of you as you reach the cliff from the approach trail.

This climb is not where it is shown in 'Taos Rock'; it is to the right of the field of that photo.

Protection

Nuts and cams to 2". A 2-bolt anchor is found on Juniper Ledge.
