Boda de Minnesota
Apr 11, 2026 · Lead / Fell/Hung. Dont usually tick a climb I didn’t top but making note of. I got right about to where one splits left for Rusty Nail. I thought this thing was fucked up hard, with bad pro and insecure climbing (laybacking with terrible feet). I only had a single in small gear and definitely would bring more in .2 (maybe .1) to .5 range. I lowered off below what I thought was hardest part when I later TR’d Rusty Nail after setting up TR to recover gear; ones gotta climb a ways above questionable pro (black totem in flake is good but flake maybe questionable), and the pro above didn’t look promising (maybe climbing is easier? But i thought the lower part looked easier from ground). I have some interest in headpointing to have a warmup for Rusty Nail. Maybe I suck YMMV

Mothers Day
Apr 10, 2026 · Lead / Fell/Hung. On p3 traversed immediately right at gear belay (as per description, although our gear belay could have been higher?). I got a piece in, then grabbed on top of a feature and the whole thing shifted/rocked backwards. I screamed, whipped, but the block stayed and miraculously the piece held; the piece was maybe slightly overcammed before, and now I could not get it out. Most importantly though I did not die, the feature was roughly like 3’x3’x1.5’ and tapered so definitely could have cut the rope. I climbed directly up the corner, traversed, then lowered to trundle the block; it really did not take much force to go. We recovered the piece by clipping it into a slung block so it didn’t fall when we trundled the feature. I’m pretty amazed this feature was still present given how loose it was (and death sized). I’m wondering if possibly the combination of the overcammed piece and my pulling on top of the feature could have torqued the feature and applied a strong force in a novel direction to loosen? Traverse should be easier (flat jug rail), although unprotected. Didn’t send, didn’t die, great success
