Weakened Warrior
Aug 15, 2026 · Lead / Onsight. Did some responsible onsight guiding and checked this route out after guiding My Time, since Zack said this was really good! This thing is really cool! Not your typical crystal pinching. It’s got a lot of really great moves, and all of it is generally fun face climbing. It’s so long too. Took literally all of a 70m with some shenanigans to top rope it. I hung a quad instead of passing the rings and adding a carabiner just to have an excuse to climb it twice haha!

Aug 13, 2026 · Lead / Redpoint. Heroic second go. Whatever cold I have made me pump out quick, so I had some added factors contributing to the challenge haha. Very fun mellow climbing to the base of the roof got me to a good rest. Ian’s beta was super helpful for the roof. Hard pull to match the now famous choss jug, then hand traverse out right to good holds. First go I pumped out after clipping because I didn’t find the good slot. Second go I almost pumped out trying to match the sun soaked hot sloper, but saved it by powering into a full iron cross with my left hand, pulling the roof, and doing a second iron cross gaston type move into the good jug. Wild and exposed for the grade!

Aug 13, 2026 · Lead / Onsight. Warm down. Thought I was on Lone Pine, then did some guidebook investigation and figured out this got retro bolted. Very mellow climbing with a few tricky spots. A good warm up/warm down route for Shell.

Aug 13, 2026 · Lead / Onsight. Very cool route and fun onsight experience. The lower roof pull felt very fun, and the layback through the dike on giant crystals was so cool! Heroic moves for the grade. The top face was perplexing at first but I felt my way into finding a perfect hidden jug slot! Very satisfying indeed.

The Void
Aug 13, 2026 · Lead / Onsight. Warm up. Felt fairly stiff but definitely still feeling under the weather. Ian making it look hard too was validating. Hard moves on ok holds that required lots of feeling around for them characterized the bottom. A little bit of choss in the middle, and a cool roof pull up high. Happy to be back at Shell!

Pig's Knuckles
Aug 7, 2026 · Lead / Redpoint. Lead with campers to set up a fixed line next to it, which worked really well once I cleaned the gear on rappel. Forgot how cool and airy the movement on this route is, especially on the traverse. Caleb led and belayed Jimmy from above while I TR soloed next to them on Slingin the pitch to make sure everything went well. They transitioned to a rappel and led the descent. 55m reaches with just a little rope to spare.
