Question of Balance
Jul 4, 2026 · Lead / Fell/Hung. Hung at Pitch 1 crux. Kudos to me 10 years ago for on-sighting that first pitch! Need to climb on granite more to get more comfortable with the subtleties. Proud to have sent the rest of the route after the P1 crux. Some solid runouts and thin climbing remained, but nothing compared to p1 in difficulty. P1 had two newish bolts and pin protecting crux move, old pin still up high on the pitch. P2 has committing slab moves to access crack. P3 memorable traverses and cool seam/layback feature protected by newish looking bolt, old 1/4" bolt still there before traverse. P4 roof was pretty chill (maybe that is the one part of this route Arkansas prepared me for?) newish bolt semi-protects roof move, I didn't place gear above, but you could. The 5.6 climbing above has a random hard section with not much gear, but not bad compared to anything below. Took our 80m about as far as I could go and then Judith took us to the top! 12hr drive from Arkansas worked out nicely. Clouds and wind kept the conditions pleasant overall.
