Description

Swan Slab is a very popular area with zero approach and an abundance of short, moderate routes. It is south-facing and gets sun almost all day long. Most of the routes are easily top-roped, making it extremely popular for guided groups. Count on crowds.

Getting There

Park either at Yosemite Lodge (across the street), Camp 4, or Lower Yosemite Falls. All the routes are about 100 feet north of the road.

Left a sling with a locking Carabiner on the big oak tree for the first pitch of swan slab Gully / Penelope's problem hanging flake. Seen way too many people Rappel off the tree and drag the naked rope around it please remember that that's not healthy for the tree and for such a popular place it would surely lead to its death most untimely. Sling was left yesterday. Oct 6, 2017
Arrived at 7:30 am on a Thursday in June.
Still a few parking spots left near the Lodge and theater, and plenty more further away.
Shady and no one climbing yet. Guides started showing up with new climbers around 9 am. Later in the day sun came out, more climbers showed up (but not enough that it felt "crowded"). Sun made some of the rock painfully hot.
There were a few mosquitoes. Jul 7, 2018
