Description

Hawk's Nest is a secluded area found on the far west end of the East Rampart area. It also has some of the tallest routes on the East Rampart.

Getting There

Hike up the CCC Trail and follow the East Bluff Trail west along the top of the East Rampart cliff.

To get to the top of Hawk's Nest, go past the Leaning Tower to the second non-descript overlook. Just past the overlook is a rocky gully that comes right up to the trail. You can descend this 40-50 feet and cut left onto the broad ledges at the top of Hawk's Nest. Easier to descent but harder to find, you can go down from the overlook in an east-trending gully to reach the same broad ledges.

To get to the bottom, go back and descend the Leaning Tower Gully. Turn right (west), and walk past the Pseudo-Hawk's Nest amphitheater, past the Balshazaar's Feast buttress, and on into the Hawk's Nest.
