Climbing Near Maverick Junction, South Dakota

Limited and not so inspiring climbing may the found within the national park. The national park is located to the north of Hot Springs and south of Custer State Park in South Dakota.

This formation is several hundred feet high and located near Cold Spring. Cold Spring is located near the old Cold Spring School and roughly a couple miles west of Highway 87 near the Rankin Ridge Fire Tower.

This is a loose crag with lots of poison ivy at the base. In the 1980s, the gas station just outside (west of) the park boundary was called Earl's Gas, hence the name of the cliff. This cliff is located near the west (Pringle side) boundary of the national park along Highway 385. The crag can be seen from the road, just south of Highway 385 near the park entrance sign.
