HUMAN WASTE: Human waste is a major issue plaguing the area. The Southern Nevada Climbers Coalition (SNCC) works to provide "wag bags" free of charge in several locations: Black Velvet Canyon, The Hamlet, Kraft Mountain Area, The Gallery, and The Black Corridor. These bags are designed so that you can pack your waste out. Consider bringing one to be part of your daily kit no matter where you go. Once used, please dispose of them properly. Do not throw them in the toilets at the parking areas.
See https://www.southernnevadaclimbers.org/wag-bags for more information on the program.
Description
Scattered, quality crags around the beautiful Red Spring Picnic Area. These are often the most easily accessed cliffs in Red Rock, boasting a short drive and (usually) short approaches. Many of the cliffs face east/northeast and will be shaded in the afternoon or earlier. This is the lowest elevation climbing area in Red Rock and is slightly warmer as a result.
Getting There
Park at the Red Spring Picnic Area parking lot, or just outside on the gravel if the lot is full. For Cannibal Crag and any crags further northwest, an alternative (slightly shorter) approach is available by parking on gravel at the corner of Sandstone Dr and Assisi Canyon Ave.
