Description
With their slightly longer approaches and less impressive route density, the Inner Walls are quite often less crowded than the Main Wall and the Great Northern Slab. The routes tend to be nice all year as long as it isn't raining. (And even if it does, many of the routes dry out quite fast.) The Inner Walls are formed by the Canyon in between the Main Wall area and the Lower Lump, and so are best categorized by the West side (also the cave side) and the East side:
West side, left (sw) to right (nw):
(a) The Shaft
(b) Toxic-Tang area
(c) Foodbar Wall
East side, left (ne) to right (se):
(a) Velvet Underground
(b) Grandeur Buttress
(c) Milkman's Missing Bottle
(d) Sam Hill
(e) Gilligan's Toe
Getting There
From the Index Town Walls parking area, head across the railroad tracks towards Lower Town Wall. Soon after passing the toilets, follow the trail that breaks off to the left as it winds up the hill. After hiking through some talus, you’ll reach a fork at a muddy spot in the trail. From here, go left and cross the small creek to reach Toxic - Tang, Grandeur Buttress, and Foodbar areas, or continue up the hill and hike through more talus to reach Missing Bottle Buttress.
