He Had a Lot to Say
Sep 10, 2025 · Lead / Onsight. Trad Onsight. Amusingly fun route, smiled the entire time, but sadly short. Bump a #6 the entirety of the first section, leaving a #5 halfway for redundancy. Climb onto the ledge setting a 0.4 and a nut (tricam better) into a small crack on the left wall. Go back and grab the #6 and continue pushing it through the crack to the tree. Belay from top on a 240cm sling around the tree (180cm too short). Did not OW jam, opting for the face holds. Deviated on the end of the route, following the crack, not the left face. Would try the OW moves next time after seeing how good the gear is. Super easy to get the #6 stuck.

Nut Cracker
Sep 8, 2025 · Lead / Redpoint. Redpoint/Repeat on Trad Lead. Clean & no falls. Always struggle on this more than "The Crack" as the gear is less obvious. Bring a #6 for the first piece, #5 was tipped out. #1, 0.3, 0.2, and green C3 for the slab section (left) or get scared, traverse right, and get a #1 into the "?" flake. Middle section easier and honestly takes nuts better than cams (bring medium and large sizes - omitted them this time and regretted it). Final section uses some 2's & 3's finishing on a 0.4-0.75 in the final crack. Pull to a lockoff or reach over the top into the dirt to clip PAS to the anchor chains (hardest part).
