RAPTOR CLOSURES: please be aware of seasonal raptor closures. They occur annually in the spring.
Description
The very aesthetic zigzag crack on the west/left face of a small, slightly detached tower. Quickly widens from hands to squeeze. You can probably keep it under 5.9 if you make use of all the features on the left, but getting into the squeeze becomes considerably harder if you try to climb it as a pure offwidth. Don't miss out on the tower top-out!
There was a lot of loose rock in the crack when we climbed it. Hopefully this cleans up with time. Consider wearing a helmet if you belay someone on it.
Protection
Despite its offwidth looks, this can be comfortably protected with small to BD #1 pieces to the left of the lightning crack. If you're comfortable in squeeze chimneys, you can also place a medium piece low, bump a #8 inside the main crack for a bit, and then call it good.
Two-bolt anchor with rap rings at the top of the west-facing side of the tower. Easy to miss if you don't protect the upper part, but can also be clipped after topping out on the tower.
