HUMAN WASTE: Human waste is a major issue plaguing the area. The Southern Nevada Climbers Coalition (SNCC) works to provide "wag bags" free of charge in several locations: Black Velvet Canyon, The Hamlet, Kraft Mountain Area, The Gallery, and The Black Corridor. These bags are designed so that you can pack your waste out. Consider bringing one to be part of your daily kit no matter where you go. Once used, please dispose of them properly. Do not throw them in the toilets at the parking areas.
See https://www.southernnevadaclimbers.org/wag-bags for more information on the program.
Description
Climbs the face to the right of Fruit Loops. 1 bolt higher up on the face and then traverse left about 25 feet to a tree with tat for rappelling. Limited, poor protection for the first 40 feet of the climb on suspect, fragile rock makes this a heady lead. Once you get in to the varnish there is luckily good gear before the bolt.
It is CRUCIAL to get in good gear after the bolt before you start the traverse left to the tree. This gear will be protecting your follower for the cruxy moves once they pass the bolt. If you don't get any gear in here or if the gear isn't good, the follower will be looking at a huge 25-30 foot pendulum across the face and into a corner if they fall after un-clipping the bolt which would disastrous and probably necessitate a helicopter rescue. Once you start the traverse there is also no gear the whole way to the tree. Any spots that look like you could get a cam in are caked with mud on the bottom. Luckily the traverse is very easy.
