Description

On the east face of the Lake Boulder, start with left hand on small edge and move up to starfish like hold, hike your feet up and throw for the doughy lip up right. Top out straight up. Classic!

Location

East face of the Lake Boulder.

Protection

Pads and spotters.
However, if you aren't local there's no way you climbed this problem. Only locals know how to find "The Reserve". Any FIBS that stumbled on to it have been taken care of, in a bad way. Jun 27, 2017
Alex. I'm serious. According to local tradition you sent a new route. For example see here: mountainproject.com/v/10774… Jun 27, 2017

Either finish seems legit. I haven't finished over to the right but to me it seemed like it would be harder that way. Jun 27, 2017

@Tradiban, I'm sorry; did I do something wrong to deserve mockery?

Maybe I should have been more explicit: I posted for posterity's sake since we didn't realize it wasn't the right beta based on the description on MP until we got home and I saw Jason's beta video posted above.

Frankly, the description sucks. There's no edge to start on. Right hand on side pull, left hand on gaston side pull icey sloper thing. Jun 27, 2017
Congratulations Alex! Any slight variation of a problem at DL is considered a new problem and an FA! Best part is, you get to name it, may I suggest "Chocolate Starfish"? Jun 26, 2017

We did a slight variation which seemed natural to us. Instead of topping out straight up, match the sloper jug out right and mantle right onto the ledge near the tree. Probably easier than v6, but not sure how it compares to the straight up finish. Jun 26, 2017

This might be my favorite free standing boulder at the lake.

First V6 at the lake! Haven't climbed much here, but this is an instant classic in my book. Totally worth the hike! Aug 16, 2011

Sent as soon as I grabbed the second hold correctly. THE standard for quality bouldering. Amazing patina like holds, movement, aesthetics. Simply put, the best. May 9, 2010

I think EZ got this one first, but let me think I was getting the FA until I topped it out! Feb 27, 2009

This problem alone is worth the hike. Oct 8, 2008
