Description
The Right-Side Gully was the first area within the Fortress to see major development. There are currently more than 10-pitches of climbing in the 5.7-5.10d range, providing a full day of possibilities.
The Right-Side Gully is created by three major flatirons. There are long, moderate routes up each of these. Of the three formations, the two that house P.I.H. and Capitalism & Freedom are not to be missed. Both formations offer stunning exposure and very aesthetic summits at accessible climbing grades.

Getting There
The right-side gully is the closest and most impressive of the gullies as viewed from the parking area.
From the dirt turnout, walk down to Sespe Creek. Turn left and walk down stream for about 100 feet. Cross the creek, continue down stream for about 100 feet and then climb the hillside to the left of a boulder-filled drainage. Cross the drainage to access the start of Free to Choose.
The first pitch of Free to Choose can be used to access all of the routes located to its left. While it is possible to scramble up the gully itself to access routes like P.I.H. and Natural Rate, it is not recommended. Continue traversing right from the base of Free to Choose to access Classically Liberal and Consumption Dysfunction.
