Description

A nice little crag about a mile east of the Las Conchas climbing area. This small crag has many good routes on the same type of rock as Las Conchas. Though the crag is small, there is a nice range in levels from 5.6 to 5.12b/c.

Getting There

Follow the directions to the Las Conchas climbing area, then drive about a mile east of Las Conchas. Pull out on the north side of the road at mile marker 37. The wall will be obvious but is partially obscured by trees.

Follow a faint trail through the grass to a barbed wire fence. Jump across it and hike up the hill to the crag. Approach time is about one minute. It's a flip-flops kind of approach.

A big chunk of rock came off of "Cyclic Loader" yesterday while two climbers were on it. It's safe to say the rock at Area 37 isn't of the highest quality and is more prone to breaking when it's been wet (like it has been recently.) Use caution at this area after it's been raining. Aug 5, 2007

The two gnarly widowmaker trees leaning against the wall have been cleared. It was pretty wild. In the carnage, the large kinda-scary-but-very-featured plate down low shared between The InBetween and Bag of Sand was knocked off. It's pretty dirty in that section now (there was dirt behind the flake) but I don't believe the difficulty of the routes has changed. Jun 14, 2017
