VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
RUTH LAKE, UINTAS ADOPT A CRAG
JULY 30th, 2016
What: Bridge building and stone staircase maintenance with the SLCA and the Forest Service. Bring water and snacks. Long pants, close-toed shoes, helmets, gloves, sun protection and sunglasses are required. The SLCA has extra gloves, helmets, and eye protection if you need to borrow gear. Expect heavy lifting and physical work. BBQ by the American Alpine Club & Moab Brewery after the work.
An Adopt a Crag is about giving back to the climbing areas we use on a regular basis. It is important that we make an effort to maintain and care for our climbing areas in order to keep them open. Climbing is a privilege and not a right. Give back to your crag and volunteer with us today.
Time: 10am-3pm
Where: Meet at the Ruth Lake Trailhead and Parking Lot just after mile marker 35 along the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway.

I'm looking to head to the ruth lake/stone garden area in 2 weeks. Has anybody climbed up yet there this year? I am wondering what kind of conditions to expect. A DM would be appreciated :) Jun 27, 2016

The SLCA exists to provide a unified voice for climbers in the Wasatch and surrounding regions through advocacy, stewardship, community, and education.
This is the Salt Lake Climbers Alliance’s main fundraiser of the year. All proceeds help pay to steward the outdoor places we love to climb. Funds go towards advocacy work, trail and staging area improvements at local crags, bolt replacement, latrines, education events and more. Games including crate stacking, arm wrestling by local outdoor companies.
May 17, 2016

Join the Salt Lake Climbers Alliance and the Forest Service and give back to the Ruth Lake climbing area at the Sept 5th, 2015 Adopt a Crag 9-2PM. Help protect the places you love to play and come out for this staging area and trail work day.

REGISTER at SatlLakeClimbers.org

NOTICE! If you are planning to climb at Ruth Lake on Sept 5th, the west side (right side) of the Good Medicine Wall and maybe some other locations at Ruth will be closed for this work day. Please consider lending a hand and be an up-stander and not a by-stander. Aug 21, 2015

I have been looking around for the Uinta Rock book, however everyone seems to be out of the book and its out of print. Does anyone know if either the Rock Climbing the Wasatch Falcon Guide or the Rock Climbing Utah 2nd Edition have sufficient coverage for the Uintas? Many thanks for any feedback. Aug 4, 2013

An update for directions.

Take exit 146 instead of 148.

Awesome place to climb. Went up 8/27. Aug 29, 2012

I wouldn't road trip there from the East Coast, but from Boulder it is certainly worth a 3-4 day weekend. May 19, 2010

Uinta Rock, by Nathan Smith and Paul Tusting, is a fantastic resource for those interested in climbing along the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway. Complete with photographic topos, maps to the crags, scenic action photos and helpful information for local services, this guide is a passport to some super summer climbing, away from the heat and crowds.
