Description Suggest change

A continuation of Sands of Time or Green Sponge up from 12 O, Clock ledge to the top of the dome which does not require climbing through unprotected X territory. This route starts right from the 12 O, Clock ledge anchors which is about 10ft right of and below the original finish to Sands of Time which heads off up and to the left.

Pitch 1. (5.9) From the bolted anchors, climb up and follow the bolts which head up and slightly right on a headwall slab full of thin edges and pure friction moves between knobs and decent stances for approximately 100ft. 8 bolts, 2 bolt anchor.

Pitch 2. (5.9) Continue up the slab past two bolts to a small roof with a splitter crack heading straight up above it. Climb the crack which narrows down to tips and is thankfully accompanied by knobs and scoops on the face for decent feet. When the crack ends at a piton, continue up the face along the outside edge of an arete to a short corner which takes some good gear between two bolts on the face. After the last bolt, climb to a flaring horizontal crack which can be walked along to the right for about 15ft to an anchor. 210ft, 4 bolts, 2 bolt anchor.

Pitch 3. (5.7) Continue walking along the crack to the right to a short vertical finger crack. Climb the crack to another ledge and mantle over a small roof onto the face above. Clip a bolt and continue up to a low angle left facing flake (5.5) which ends at a nice spacious ledge. Build an anchor on the ledge where the piton is at.

Pitch 4. (5.6) Climb up onto a block on the left and rock onto the face following a vertical dike past three bolts. The angle backs off and you climb 50ft of unprotected 5.2 slabs straight up to the ledge above.

To rappel, walk along the ledge to the left and either rappel from the tree, or from anchors just to the left about 15ft located on the outside corner of the ledge on the face. 2 double rope rappels will get you to the top of the Tibetan Tower where you can proceed to rappel down Silk Road.
