Description
The Northeast Face is everything from the far Left side of Cal Dome to the end of the Tibetan Tower which hosts routes like; Silk Road and Sands of Time.
The Northeast Face is the steeper side of Calaveras Dome. Here you'll find challenging pure trad routes, Aid routes, difficult face climbs and long multi pitch routes. The face is in the sun early, but typically goes into the shade by mid afternoon. Most routes can be rappelled with two 60m ropes. Some routes require a bit of piecing together rappel stations of other routes, but typically, there's always a way down. The Northeast face is also home to the EDP rappel route. Found just to the left of the top of Rastaman Vibrations and the Karakoram Highway, it is a (though sphincter puckeringly exposed) direct rappel route back to the base of the cliff, often done in the dark by bug eyed dirty, hungry and tired climbers.
