Description Suggest change

Devil May Care ascends the southwest arete of the Like Heaven Pinnacle, as a variation to the second pitch to Celestial Pile or Gunky. The climbing is nice but short lived, the position is excellent, and the rock quality is so-so in spots. You can rap in from the top of the pinnacle (most easily accessed by hiking to Hillbilly and then reversing the last 100 feet of Stairway to Heaven) to suss it out on TR. The crux comes as soon as you step off the ramp from Gunky and onto the arete, and it is protected by a couple not so great pitons. Figure out the boulder problem to get past the pitons to a strenuous stance where you can get a nest of gear. Gun it through the final overhangs to a sloping ledge. From here, traverse left on beautiful rock (5.9 R) to the anchors of Celestial Pile.

Note: this route was climbed as a head-point, rehearsed on TR many times before attempting a lead.

Location Suggest change

Climb the first pitch of Celestial Pile or Gunky or rap in from the top of the Like Heaven Pinnacle.

Protection Suggest change

A single rack 0.2 - #2 with doubles in 0.3-0.5, small nuts, and slings. A 000 and a green c3 were helpful.
