Access Issue: Variable Hunting season - Saison de chasse variable
Details
Cette année (2025), la fermeture de ces deux sites d'escalade pour la chasse à l'arme à feu est du samedi 11 octobre au dimanche 26 octobre inclusivement.
Cependant, le Sanatorium fermera EN PLUS pour la chasse à l'arc et à l'arbalète du samedi 20 septembre au dimanche 5 octobre inclusivement.
Pour rappel:
ces sites d'escalade se situent sur un terrain privé qui est englobé par la ZEC, mais avec des dates de chasse souvent différentes de celles de la ZEC. Le propriétaire du terrain nous a averti, si lui ou ses amis nous voient passer sur son terrain durant ces dates, il va remettre en question notre accès. Alors, de ne pas y aller pendant la chasse est un moindre mal en échange d'un accès libre le reste de l'année.
Gros Bonnet (A.K.A. Le Cap des Sept Côtes) - Sanatorium, closed for hunting
This year (2025), these two climbing sites will be closed for firearm hunting from Saturday, October 11 to Sunday, October 26, inclusive.
However, the Sanatorium will ALSO be closed for bow and crossbow hunting from Saturday, September 20 to Sunday, October 5, inclusive.
Reminder:
these climbing sites are located on private land that is part of the ZEC, but with hunting dates that often differ from those of the ZEC. The landowner has warned us that if he or his friends see us on his property during these dates, he will reconsider our access. So, not going there during hunting season is a small price to pay in exchange for free access the rest of the year
Description
P1 (5.11+/5.12 ?, 25m)
Climb the huge flake that starts several meters to the right of the obvious dihedral. Once on the top of the flake, all the way to the left (possible to protect with a #3 or #4 camalot, to be confirmed), place a good x4 or z4 #0.4 camalot and climb the dihedral. Continue to the top of the dihedral where it is possible to cross to the right on the small ledge where the anchor is located. The dihedral is ALWAYS dry, but the traverse is VERY RARELY dry, so unfortunately you have to wait for several consecutive days (at least 4) of warm sunny weather for the route to be dry. Very technical pitch of an incredible beauty, so you have to take advantage of the good weather to try it !
Grimper l'immense écaille qui débute plusieurs mètres à droite du dièdre évident. Une fois rendu sur le dessus de l'écaille, complètement à gauche (possible de protéger avec un camalot no. 3 ou 4, à confirmer), placer un bon camalot x4 ou z4 no 0.4 et embarquer dans le dièdre. Continuer jusqu'au haut du dièdre où il est possible de traverser vers la droite sur la corne où le relais se trouve. Le dièdre est TOUJOURS sec, mais la traverse est TRÈS RAREMENT sèche, il faut donc malheureusement attendre plusieurs jours consécutifs (au moins 4) de temps chaud au soleil pour que la voie soit sèche. Longueur très technique d'une incroyable beauté, il faut donc profiter de la bonne météo pour l'essayer !
P2 (5.10 ?, 20 m, PG13)
Start from the anchor for an unprotected traverse to the right on a slab (crux of the pitch). Continue in the series of dihedrals/cracks by placing marginal gear. The pitch is often wet and of no real interest unless it is to get to the top. It is recommended to rappel after the first pitch.
Partir du relais pour une traverse sans protection vers la droite sur une dalle (crux de la longueur). Continuer dans la série de dièdres/fissures en plaçant des protections marginales. Longueur très souvent mouillée et sans réelle intérêt sauf si ce n'est que de se rendre au sommet. Il est conseillé de rappeler après la première longueur.
Location
This route is located in the headwall of the Grandes Dalles sector. You have to walk around it or climb another route (to be confirmed) to get there. On the path leading up to the summit of the Grandes Dalles, before the final steep slope to the summit of L'Odyssée, there is a junction to the left (as you ascend the walkoff) that leads along the headwall. Go almost to the end of the big vegetal ledge where the obvious flake shows the start of the route.
Cette voie se situe dans le headwall du secteur des Grandes Dalles. Il faut faire le tour à pied ou grimper une autre voie (à confirmer) pour se rendre. Dans le sentier de montée du sommet des Grandes Dalles, avant la dernière montée finale vers le sommet de L'Odyssée, un embranchement vers la gauche (lorsqu'on monte le sentier de descente) permet de longer le headwall. Se rendre presque au bout de la grande vire végétale où l'écaille évidente permet de montrer le départ de la voie.
