A fun TR route of moderate difficulty. Start in the crack directly below the arete. Climb onto the boulder then step left onto the arete (crux 1). Follow the arete up and finish on face on the left side (crux 2).

You can also start on the face left of the arete which is a bit harder.

The large, blocky arete on the right-facing corner about 25 ft left of Block of Ages. Look for the dead hemlock on a ledge about 10 feet up. Also, look for it when being lowered off (ouch!).

Not much. Suitable trees for TR anchors but long (150 ft.) static required.

I'm not sure I've got the correct name on this route. Hooked on Traprock calls it "a bad trip" but we found this route to be fun and challenging on TR. There aren't many good TRs for novice climbers at Cathole. Beware loose rock to the left! May 30, 2014

The arete is nice and a lot of fun. There's a lot of loose rock to the left of the arete. I thought the last couple of moves were harder than 5.6 Sep 26, 2016
