Description
This is a strange route, but it can be used as an approach to other routes on Dinosaur Rock (i.e. East Face). The route is divided into two sections separated by hiking. The first section is the rib of rock that heads north out of Bear Canyon a couple hundred feet downstream from Bear Creek Spire. This is the first rib of rock you notice on the north side when hiking up Bear Canyon (it is much less prominent than Bear Creek Spire itself). Scramble up this rib a few hundred feet until it begins to disappear.
At this point, you want to cross the gully west of you, and finish on the rib of rock that lies north of Bear Creek Spire. If you hike all the way to the notch north of Bear Creek Spire, you will find that it is not easy to continue north on this ridge from there. Instead, cross the gully and start climbing the ridge somewhere east of this notch. When we did this we could not find any place to start up that seemed 4th class. Once you gain the rib, it is an easy romp north to where it dies out in the vicinity of the start of the East Face route on Dinosaur Rock.
