Description

The Fraser Valley is the large area spanning from Abotsford to Hope B.C. The climbing in the area is mostly single pitch trad routes and bolted sport routes. There are also several major and popular mountains in this area (i.e. Mt. Slesse, Rexford, and the Cheam Range). The Rock can vary from solid granite to limestone and, unfortunately, some very loose and flaky volcanic rock (mostly in the Cheam Range).

Getting There

From Vancouver follow Hwy 1 east until you reach the valley.

I went to the othello tunnels and saw a bolt next to what looked to be a cool line, just wondering if anyone has any info on the area. Oct 25, 2009
Dru B.
It's a line that the riggers created during the filming of First Blood. not an actual route per se. The bolts are old non-stainless ones too. Oct 26, 2009

The photos make me excited. What is there for camping in the area? Everything dried up somewhat by late spring? Mar 2, 2011

Heads up, we saw a couple bears last night at old hope boulders (Big Sky Boulder, to be specific). One was definitely a cub, and the other was huge. May 18, 2011
Dru B.
The bear is back at Harrison too. May 23, 2011
Yohan, I saw that line you were talking about and yes the bolt is nothing you would want to clip but the climbing is good... hard but good and the gear is good up to the wide crack up top I didn't have enough gear to finish but I plan on going back soon and giving er!

Going to try to summit rexford on saturday, but I was hoping to find some more information on the location of the trail head and which route would be the best for a single day ascent. Jul 27, 2011

Is there a guidebook to the Fraser Valley Area? Jan 6, 2012
Dru B.
there are out of print guides to some areas of the valley and an in-print guide to the bouldering at Hunter Creek. Otherwise, this is your best resource. Plus it's free! Jan 8, 2012
Thanks Dru!,

Any idea where I can grab a copy of the hunter creek guide? Jan 10, 2012
Dru B.
At the climbing gym in Abbotsford or from Jer Postal himself.... hmmm only 50 copies were printed, maybe not
