I usually lead anything under 5.6 in the Gunks on passive gear alone. This climb was all tricams and a few nuts leaving me with a rack of heavy cams at the tree belay.

Here is a flare where only tricams were super secure. I already placed my #3 on the pitch and was left with my "second set" of cams, my tricams. I don't always take the green and grey up, but in the Adirondacks on exploratory routes, they often can be useful.
