Description Suggest change

This offers a more difficult and direct way to the top of Tuckerman Ravine. It's very straightforward, but not a place for beginners. Many a climber as slid a long way down this route trying to ascend/descend without proper equipment. Chute is the wide gully with a slight pinch at the very bottom. Punch directly up this steep snow, which is up to 50 degrees at the top. The final steps roll like a marble until it's almost flat, making for a unique top out. This blind roll is famous for intimidating skiers. I gave it 2 stars since this site is mostly used by climbers, but this is easily a five star ski descent in the right conditions.

Descent: If you’re a skier, boy you’re in for a fun ride over down these steep slopes. If you’re a mountaineer using The Chute as a means of reaching Mount Washington, it is best to descend via Lion's Head Winter Route, or downclimb Right Gully back to the floor of the ravine.

Location Suggest change

Lookers right of the obvious Left Gully, you'll see a much wider and steeper gully. This has two defined wall which close in towards the bottom, although the construction is nothing technical.

Protection Suggest change

You probably won’t need any, but you could use pickets for running pro on the steeper sections.
