Got the Snake Eye over in the boulder field near Minor Mass today Sunday May 5th. He was a monster with a good 4+inch diameter at mid length. Couldn't get a better shot as I didn't want to get any closer and he blended quite well into the brown leaf cover. Yes... this is a rattlesnake encountered in a relatively busy area within DLSTP.

Correct Doug. Along the cut off between Potholes trail and Minor Mass but closer to MM then the PH Trail. The low cut off that starts at the only actual switch back on PH Trail and the recently downed big old dead tree. May 6, 2013
The biggest rattlers I've seen were all at Devil's Lake. One day there was a huge one sitting in a small tree right next to the trail under Upper D. Sat there all day watching the climbers and the hikers going by. At the end of the day we moved him into the woods but the next day he was right back in his perch. May 30, 2013
