Description

The quiet little town of New Castle is nestled in the heart of western slopes limestone sport climbing scene. New Castle wasn't always this sleepy, as it was the sight of a major mining boom in the late 1800s with a rich history in that realm. Main Street used to be lined with brothels, saloons, drunken doubachery, and even a shootout or two back then. What is left is a few historical buildings and landmarks and a pleasantly chill town. New Castle hosts an immense amount of climbing just outside of town, most crags being just a short drive away. Main Street and the shopping area right off I-70 offers decent food and coffee (check out Drifters on Main Street and New Castle Coffee) along with a City Market for all your grocery store needs, including water.

Getting There

It is just West of Glenwood Springs on I-70 by about 10 minutes.
