Black Jack Boulder Area Climbing

From the small parking lot, this area has about a fifteen-twenty minute approach depending on the conditions of the terrain.

From the small lot head west on the trail that runs parallels with the road. Take the right up Short Cut Trail and hike up the steps. When the trail forks, stay left and continue up the mellow hill. After a few minutes, the trail will flatten out and start to decline. This trail brings the hiker past Monsters From the Id. Keep hiking on the well-traveled path to where the trail forks again. The right trail leads uphill to Bonsai and Monsters Cliff, take the left trail which heads downhill.
After a few minutes on this downhill section of the trail, the hiker will come face-to-face with the large Entrance Boulder known as "Bobby's Boulder". Veer left on the trail, then take the next right, keeping "Bobby's Boulder" on the right hand side. This trail brings passes by the "Caver's Boulder" and then leads to a large overhanging boulder in the middle of the trail. This large boulder is the Umbrella Boulder. The massive Black Jack Boulder is found behind and to the left of the Umbrella Boulder.
