Access Issue: RAIN, WET ROCK and RAPTOR CLOSURES: The sandstone around Moab is fragile and is very easily damaged when it is wet. Also please ask and be aware of Raptor Closures in areas such as CAT WALL and RESERVOIR WALL in Indian Creek Details

A beautifully varnished wall at Indian Creek with a dozen or so stellar crack lines. This wall is atypical of Indian Creek in that many of the lines fall in the 5.10 range. The sizes are mostly in the hands and wide hands ranges, but some smaller stuff does exist there. It is a good wall to climb during colder months, because it is south facing and gets good sun.

Getting There

Refer to the 200 Select Indian Creek Climbs guidebook for an overview map. Locate the first dirt road on the right(gate) past the Disappointment Cliffs. High clearance is helpful on this road, but low clearance vehicles will just require more thought. You will pass a possible left turn and then come to a fork, at which point go left. The right fork leads to the 2nd Meat Wall approach. Go another half mile from the fork while looking up to your left for the wall. The climb Right Arm is easily visible from the dirt road as a leaning splitter with many pods. Park at an obvious small parking area on the right. Walk up the wash for 100 yards or so, looking for cairns marking the rugged trail to the cliff.

This wall was first called the Sinestra Wall. Oct 1, 2009
As of 10/8/14, a section of the road about a quarter of a mile past the gate was washed out, making it impassable to all but the bravest 4x4 drivers. Not sure of the condition of the rest of the road--we were short on time and opted to not park and hike in. Oct 9, 2014

As of 4/1/16, the road and the various forks off the road that lead to Original Meat Wall parking in general are passable by 4X4 vehicles or even 2WD vehicles with very high clearance factors. But I wouldn't recommend attempting the whole drive to the parking in a standard clearance 2WD car - I tried this and despite lots of experience with careful maneuvering of this type, couldn't avoid bottoming out on bad rocks in a few of the hairier spots.

If you must go to this wall and you have a standard clearance 2WD car, consider carefully driving as far as you can go before any really hairy parts, and that should take you to somewhere you can park and hike in the last 30-40 extra minutes.

Also, note that although the guidebook overview map suggests a straight-in road here with just a couple forks, in reality the road curves a bit and there are 1 or 2 forks not referenced in that map. So keep an eye on the forks you choose relative to the wall location for best final guidance to the closest parkig. Apr 10, 2017
